Mobo: MSI K7T266 Pro2-RU, Via VT8366A & VT8233
Sound Hardware: Mobo built-in AC'97 sound support
Audio Drivers: Alsa v0.5.12a
Operating System: RedHat 7.2, 2.4.18, and RedHat 7.3
I re-ripped one track of my "problem" cd (Moby "Play" track 2) and
verified distortion on playback under Linux. Rebooted under Win2K and
played the same WAV file with WinAmp. Was not able to detect any
distortion under Windows.
This is *clearly* not a problem with paranoia's DAE code. I apologize
for the false alarm. It also looks like I have some updating to do...
Alsa is very close to a 1.0 release (they are now at rc3) and are
officially integrated in 2.5.x. I'm also going to have to check and see
if RH73 has the latest patches for the KT266A chipset. I don't think
they do, as I'm having more IDE problems that I've had with my patched RH72.
I appreciate all the advice and will forward the results of my tests
sometime next week after I finish upgrading everything...
Thanx guys,
-Randy
