[paranoia] cdparanoia fails with a shload of SCSI errors

Try turning off (or reducing the speed of) DMA on the
ATAPI cd reader with either:
hdparm -d0 -c1 /dev/hdd
hdparm -d 1 -X 34 /dev/hdd
This assumes your cd reader is connected to /dev/hdd .
