Oh good.

I know Meridian make some units that work like this, anyone else
know who does it?  I didn't think they did much 'signal processing'
on it though.

Well, I guess the bottom line is that if a special drive purchase is
necessary, then so be it.  Even better if Paranoia could eventually
recover HDCD or one of the 96kHz formats. ;-)

Are DVD drives any better (or worse)?

They offer the theoretical possibility of maybe retrieving audio
product on them, don't they?

Presumably SACD audio data will remain somewhat problematic?
