Hi, I am using cdparanoia to rip music :)
Unfortunately I am having some problems with it. Sometimes it does not
seem to actually get to reading info from the drive, instead
(occasionally) it makes noises, like the motor is moving in small
increments and some squeaking noises, and nothing happens for a minute or
so. Other times it does that and it does figure out how to read from it
and it proceeds normally, and sometimes it just happens straight away
without all the squeaking.

Anyway even after that it takes about 10 hours to rip a whole cd, which
seems to be a long time. Do you have any ideas what I can do to: 1 speed
things up; 2 get cdparanoia to read the cd drive properly?

anyway here is all the uninteresting output that cdparanoia gives. Both
output are with the same cd on consecutive commands with absolutely no
hardware or software changes.

Unable to read any data; drive probably not CDDA capable.
006: Could not read any data from drive

Cdparanoia could not find a way to read audio from this drive.
