I have been using cdparanoia for a long time without any problems, up until now at least. I cannot get it to work with my Debian installation (patato). Here is the ouput I get...

[root at renaissance /root]# cdparanoia -vw 1 track-01.wav
cdparanoia III release 9.6 (August 17, 1999)
(C) 1999 Monty <monty at xiph.org> and Xiphophorus

Checking /dev/cdrom for cdrom...
Testing /dev/cdrom for cooked ioctl() interface
/dev/scd0 is not a cooked ioctl CDROM.
        Testing /dev/cdrom for SCSI interface
No generic SCSI device found to match CDROM device /dev/scd0

Huh? Cooked iotcl CDROM? Wha? I don't understand? The CD-ROM is a Plextor UltraPlex Wide (UW SCSI) CD-ROM. It has worked before (and *very* well) when I used Redhat. I have tried several different configurations with the kernel. With no luck. Do you have any idea what the problem is here?

Thank you in advance,
