[neurosetta] Problems Synching with Positron

Hello,

I bought my Neuros last week and received it three days ago. It appears to be
stillborn and is no longer functioning.

The basic problem is I couldn't get it to sync up with my linux desktop. I
would plug in the USB cable and it would immediately lock up and I would have
to do a hard reboot. After doing this many times, trying different kernel
versions and the like, one time (the last time), it locked up and refused to
turn back on.
I got it to connect once on my desktop (I couldn't reproduce it) but it
locked up during file transfer anyway. I also got it to work once on my
laptop.

So, here is what I tried:

*I run Debian testing on a 2.0Ghz P4 desktop PC and on my P3 Thinkpad laptop.
*I run a stock (from kernel.org) 2.4.20 kernel, but I also tried 2.4.21 on my
desktop.
*I recompiled the kernel several different ways, but ended up making
everything a module (scsi_mod, usb-uhci, usb-storage, sd_mod) so I could
follow the directions exactly.

When I connected the neuros, I would get the following in my log, while the
neuros would lock hard:

Jun 25 15:52:19 topeka kernel: hub.c: new USB device 00:1f.2-1.1, assigned
address 4
Jun 25 15:52:19 topeka kernel: Manufacturer: Digital Innovations
Jun 25 15:52:24 topeka kernel: usb_control/bulk_msg: timeout
Jun 25 15:52:39 topeka last message repeated 3 times

The one time it worked, I got this in the log (but then it locked up during
file transfer):

Since it is being sent back on Monday, I guess I am not looking for help, but
want you guys to know that the linux support is not up to snuff yet, and that
I am willing to help anyone debug problems with it if I can.
