[neurosetta] rsync rebuild

is it reasonable to use rsync to maintain the files on the neuros, followed
by a positron rebuild? what are the downsides?

i'm assuming that a positron sync isn't going to notice things like file
changes (altering the artist tag, for example).

i realize that my system has to calculate the checksums on the files on
the neuros, so i am paying the penalty of reading each file in its entirety.
however, i'm assuming that writes will only take place if necessary.

i also realize that i'll lose the pc dbase feature - though i don't really
see the point of it. it sounds like the benefit is that you can request
tracks to be syncd next time - but positron sync just syncs everything anyway,
right?

are there characters in filenames that the neuros can't deal with? i've
noticed that positron alters characters on the fly (?, for example) - or maybe
the vfat layer is doing this transparently.
