[Icecast] Player Problems

I have been quit dissatisfied with VLC for listening to streams from
icecast. I get the same thing you do, with clicks and pops frequently,
and the speed drifts. If I played VLC side by side with another player,
they got more and more out of tune and out of sync with each the longer
it was played. I'm quite certain icecast isn't to blame for this, as
VLC is the only client I've seen to exhibit this behavior. I don't VLC
is really designed to be a good streaming audio client. I chose not to
even list it as a supported player on our website.
