I've done this and it works great.  But there are drawbacks.  If the
player client is in random track mode, the player may play the live
stream first, and never the static content.

I've always wanted an option to have a static file(s) presented to the
client before the live stream.  Having it done on the server would make
sure that whatever the static content was it couldn't be skipped.  The
Real Player stations has intro promos and little commercials, like
that.  If you knew the final url you could bypass them all.

I'd even like to see the static files be affected by mount point
declarations in the config.  Then you could use the fallback directive
to eventually kick it to a live stream.
