i have been playing around trying to get ice2 to work now for quite some
time and frankly i am a bit frustrated by now... the anoying thing is how
early in the whole proccess my problems actually start!

running ./autogen.sh in the newest cvs version of ice2 results in

<p>idoru:/usr/src/ices# ./autogen.sh
I am going to run ./configure with no arguments - if you wish
to pass any to it, please specify them on the ./autogen.sh command line.

./configure: line 1186: syntax error near unexpected token
`AM_INIT_AUTOMAKE(ices,2.0)'
./configure: line 1186: `AM_INIT_AUTOMAKE(ices,2.0)'

the ogg, libshout, and vorbis modules do autogen, and compile correctly.
but vorbis-tools do not. here ./autogen gives me

idoru:/usr/src/cvs/vorbis-tools# ./autogen.sh
I am going to run ./configure with no arguments - if you wish

<p>i managed to compile and install ices-0.2.3 from the source tarball but
this is quite an old version and doesnot support ogg which is the whole
point for me.

i am running linux 2.4.20, debian woody, and have been following the
instruction of Pierre Amadio at http://melmoth.dyndns.org/stream/doc/
quite carefully.

one last problem though i am not sure wether i itreally matters is that
the command

cvs -z3 co log thread net timing

hangs with:

cvs server: Updating timing

i saw some other posts mentioning this in a forum... anyway :-(
i hope someone has an idea whats going on here and could give me some
hints.

cheers
optix
