[icecast] off topic: info on mp3 files

   this is way off topic, but maybe someone can help...
   i'm looking for a script or prog that gives me info
   on a mp3-file, like what mpg123 shows when starting up
   plus some tech details like size, time, frequency etc.

There is a program called mp3info that does this; I thought it was
included with some Linuxes.  Use the -F option for different formats,
some of them have a ridiculous amount of info, e.g.:

root at home:icecast>mp3info -F 1 /mp3/napster/phish/ph1991-11-01-destiny.mp3 
Destiny Unbound|Phish|11-1-1991|1991||Rock|0|2|III|0|128|22050|j-stereo|0|1|5|35|335|/mp3/napster/phish/ph1991-11-01-destiny.mp3|5361391
