Hmm no trick? We dont use ices though we use libshout which is the
liberay that ices use to serv mp3s to icecast.

Hmmm Have you checked what upstream you on your cablemodem? Its very
common for cableoperators to limit the upstream.

At least regarding high bitrate streaming there where some bugs that
has been fixed in the cvs version so i recommend that you download
icecast source from cvs and compile that and see if you notice any change?
