[icecast] 1.3.11 and metadata

hey all,
i have a question about the new version of icecast and metadata.  it seems that ever since i upgraded to 1.3.11, i'm getting a metadata packet storm on the firewall of any client that is behind one.  icecast is sending about 1 udp packet per second, causing the firewall log to fill up rather quickly, resulting in unhappy administrators.
anyone have any idea why this is happening and/or if i can configure my stream to not do this?
