I ran into a problem with libmp3lame as well. Turns out, I just needed to
add "/usr/local/lib" to my "/etc/ld.so.conf" (run /bin/ldconfig after adding
it). This fixed it right up.

Also, I couldn't get 3.88 to build correctly. 3.89 works great though.
