[Icecast-dev] installation troubles

hey,

i'm totally new to unix and am usually running tiger.
i've tried copying verbatim every line of code on every web site i could 
find to install icecast and nothing has worked.  terminal keeps replying 
things like no such command or just Stop. to every line or command i enter.  
is there any way to install icecast through fink commander?  i just want to 
get a little stream going and have really found myself in over my head.  any 
suggestions other than what you've already outlined in the doc?
