[icecast-dev] Writing a client

Hi,

I need to write an Icecast client, it seems pretty straight forward: open
up an HTTP connection, send the request, strip off the header and send the
rest to the ogg vorbis decoder. My only question is: how does the server
know or not know when a client is behind? Should my client only read from
the socket when its buffer isn't full? Or is there some other mechanism?
What would happen if I read continuously, dropping data that doesn't fit
in my buffer?

Thanks,
Martin
