Hi all,

The Open Media Developers track at the Open Video Conference is
starting to come together.

It was announced today, see
http://openvideoconference.org/2011/08/html5-progression-at-ovc-open-media-developers/
and right now includes the following tracks:
* Open Media Software Developers Plenary
* WebRTC: Realtime Communications and HTML5
* Standards for Video Accessibility
* WebM: Testing, Metrics and New features
* HTML5 video players: Shortcomings of the HTML5 video API for
cross-platform player libraries
* Standards for HTTP Adaptive Streaming
* Standards for Browser Video Statistics
* Device Inputs for A/V in the Browser

These are all pretty broad topics, so I am expecting we will have some
smaller breakout groups on HTML5 video features as well on things such
as
 * Gapless playback
 * Fullscreen
 * Stretching
 * Playlist support

However, I am right now a bit worried about the lack of non-HTML5 open
media software topics. Desktop applications are just as important as
the Web, in particular when it comes to creating video content. I
would particularly love to have sessions on
 * open video editors
 * desktop media players
 * streaming servers
 * media frameworks
 * new codecs (some of this last one is captured in the WebM track,
but could be more explicit)
of in fact anything else that you care about.

Do let me know if we can create a session that can scratch an itch of
yours and that you'd like to moderate. I'd be very happy to add it.

BTW: I've also started putting names of attendees together on a wiki
page at http://openvideoalliance.org/wiki/index.php?title=OVC2011_OMS_Track
. It's awefully incomplete, so if you are coming, please let me know
so I can add your name.

Cheers,
Silvia.
