If id in the style element is really bothering you, post a message in 
the appropriate Working Group mailing list.
I"m sure when they get around to the next version they'll address it.

It's a constant battle to keep the Web Free. All we can do is provide the
options, trap your media in proprietary formats or Xiph them.
