You sacrifice the external CD changer or Satellite Radio option on
Toyotas/Scions actually. The in-dash CD player still works fine, just
as it did before. For a Scion I can recommend this one

from Circuit City for$60. If you order from them you can pick it up in
the store if they have it in stock, which mine did. The great thing
about this aux input adapter is it has two sets of inputs. You switch
between them by using the disc changing buttons. This makes it so you
could do a DVD player and a music player, or any other combination of
sources.<br>

adapters for most cars just add an aux input in lieu
of the CD changer.
It connects to the same port as the CD changer
would. They usually cost
$50-$80 for a factory radio, and I have gotten one
for my Kenwood deck
for $20. They are very simple to install. If you
know how to get your
deck out all you have to do is plug it into the back
of the deck.
Crutchfield.com sells a lot of adapters, but you can
find them with
Froogle by searching for something like "scion aux
input adapter".
