libvorbis, libtheora, etc. are already under a liberal license that permits use 
in proprietary software.

The free software community doesn't typically look to Apple for pro-freedom 
activities, so I don't expect to see Apple promoting  (or even supporting) 
unencumbered formats any time soon.
