Don't know about UX in general, but the journaling FS (ext3, Reiser, XFS, ...)
on linux should give you the ability to undelete. For ext2 you may use
http://e2undel.sf.net/
I don't know how the journaling FS restore a file, but they could be able to
restore the filename as well. With e2undel you have to figure it out yourself,
except you used the library delivered with it *before* the deletion. It add
some kind of journaling/logging to ext2.
