136,140 sample.ogg
127,023 sample-rehuff.ogg (6.6% savings vs ogg)
110,284 sample.zip
105,237 sample.7z (22.7% savings vs ogg)
103,832 sample-rehuff.zip
99,292 sample-rehuff.7z (21.8% savings vs ogg-rehuff)
Yup. I get the same results on that sample file (except my rehuff'd .ogg
plays in WinAmp just fine). Strange. Maybe the repetative (and
computer-generated) nature of that file makes it more zipable.
Rest assured that these results are not typical. Here is a random song
pulled from my collection:
3,243,113 sample.ogg
3,230,274 sample.7z
3,223,435 sample.zip (0.6% savings vs ogg)
3,212,980 sample-rehuff.ogg (0.9% savings vs ogg)
3,199,101 sample-rehuff.7z
3,190,042 sample-rehuff.zip (0.7% savings vs ogg-rehuff)
