I admit it, I missed an L. I got to reading the GPL in the quote.

Right. I knew that but my brain wasn't working.
The point was they can easily handle situations involving including a fully
functional encoder without giving access to it.
If they wanted to make vorbis strictly a 'pay' item, then could easily wrap
it with a reg check etc. without giving it away.
I seriously doubt that Winamp has any sort of exlusitivity for AAC in the
free version of WinAmp, thus they could include vorbis.
But this has gotten a wee bit off topic.
