Coupling is very flexible. Right now, the encoder already
switches between lossless and lossy coupling depending on
what it is encoding (high/low freq, loud or silent, etc...).

If I understand correctly:
OGG doesn't switch to lossless stereo coupling on APPLAUD.WAV because it
doesn't know it is producing artefacts.

Then all OGG needs is better knowledge of when lossy-stereo-coupling creates
audible artefacts to let him switch to lossless coupling. Am I right?
