I've never gotten performance even close to that. Are you sure you weren't
dreaming? (or maybe you mentally moved the decimal point one place)
Standard file compression can rarely knock more than 5% off of a 44.1kHz
PCM file of any type. A lossless audio codec like FLAC can do a little bit
better, maybe 30-40% compression, but then you're still looking at at
least 800kbps.
