I've seen a few articles on this...
[a] the required task was stunningly simple - stuff like distinguishing
between two input frequencies
[b] it took a while to "grow" the design
[c] the design was found to work for the specific hardware FPGA they
used. ie, transfer the solution to another FPGA, even of the same
make/model/etc, and it didn't work.
