Not true; the graphs are very interesting and the author clearly
uses them to help illustrate what he hears.  They *are* indicative of
how the algorithms in LAME and Ogg actually work.  Note that in his
evaluations, he made it clear that his ratings were based on
listening.

The author does appear to let the graphs influence his subjective
listening opinion.  That's a no-no.  But he definately isn't basing
his results just on the graphs.

Don't be an ass.  He said no such thing.

(and, as for hearing > nkHz, the ear's ability to detect
high-frequency impulse energy apparently extends beyond it's ability
to hear high-frequency tones.  Otherwise there'd never ever be a
reason to use frequencies > 18kHz)
