Ohh,,.  Now I'm confused.  Why do they have same cvs tag dates, also
confirmed to be same vendor strings?  How is the vendor string in info.c
updated anyway - automatically on a per-day basis or manually sometimes?

I'm more interested in the vendor string (for purpose of file(1) magic
detection of encoder version that is anyway commmented out for regular
users :) than in the life story but it'd interesting to understand too
(I discovered vorbis at beta2, IIRC, and I got some files encoded with
20000508 vendor string).
