Ogg Vorbis versus mp3,wma,mp3pro,rm
??

As history tells us, open tends to win over more often than
closed. The difference now is that MP3 is a household term and
is very much entrenched in the market. Sorry but (I think jack
agrees with me on this) I can't see "Ogg Vorbis" becoming a
household name.

Taking an objective look at the industry and all it has to
offer, Ogg Vorbis looks to be the technologically superior to
the rest of the industry. Not only that, but it is cheaper (if
only to everyone _but_ listeners). Ogg Vorbis will offer soon
(how soon? does anyone have an guess?) things like bitrate
peeling which commercial technologies don't even have...

All in all, even if Vorbis doesn't gain a large percentage of
the market (imo, 25% would be amazing), it will survive in true
open-source fashion as the format of choice for the technically
proficient.
