Yes, that's one of the annoying things of this technology. They just ignored 
the fact that error correction was introduced to audio CDs for a reason. The 
reason is that every CD gets scratches when used and these scratches cause 
read errors. The errors Macrovision introduces use up all or most of this 
headroom in new CDs. There's not much left for scratches. So making a backup 
copy from a CD you just bought becomes even more important, while it becomes 
more difficult at the same time.
