Wrapper is a program, which converts calls to one library to some
other library. Most known wrappers for windows are probably Glide
wrappers (Glide is [was] 3Dfx'es graphics library for it's Voodoo
processors, which many games used; many of these programs could use
only Glide for 3D graphics, so they didn't run on non-3Dfx cards. Some
people then wrote wrappers for glide, which emulated Glide over
Direct3D or OpenGL, thus allowing games to run on non-3Dfx
processors).
