First, please reference specific claims.  Which claims (not the
abstract) are the ones to which you think a 3d wavlet based encoder
would infringe?

Also note, that 'tarkin' is based on Debauchies 3d wavelets, the code
basically taken directly from Numerical recipies in C, which I have to
think is much older than 17 years.  Certainly even if there are claims
to this idea, they are without basis, as there is plenty of prior art.
