<p>But unless I am mistaken, you can bypass all of the soundcards processing
and stream directly out of the SPDIF socket.  Otherwise, how else would you
be able to output AC3 directly from a DVD?  On my windows box, I have a
Hollywood+ DVD decoder card, and for that I have a Plugin for Winamp that
allows me output though it's SPDIF output.  I haven't seen anything like
that for Linux.
