Not so fast, I remember a discussion about GCC 2.96 being broken as
well (in a different way, not affecting Vorbis, but instead
affecting the Linux Kernel and Sound Modules). Does anybody know if GCC
3.0 has the same bug?
In addition, I found that some things I thought were artifacts and
skipping when listening to RC1 were actually sound module bugs (Kernel
sound problem). They mysteriously went away when I changed sound cards on
Mandrake 8.0. (I had a crappy OPL3SAX card, now have a SoundBlaster PCI
128)
Its frustrating to figure out whether bad sound is a Vorbis problem or a
problem with the hardware/kernel modules.
