Yes, these are the ACM codecs, and I suppose there are the DirectShow
ones as well.
The question si more of, does Windows Media detect these codecs and use
them? I didn't think it did.
You could certain write an application to use those codecs, as Nullsoft
did using microsoft's MP3 codec.
But I don't think the ACM has any mapping of mimetype, fileextension,
etc. The application pretty much has to know how that stuff works I
thought.
Will writing an ACM codec allow lots of applications to easily use
Vorbis? The answer is clearly yes.
Will writing an ACM codec automatically make WMP play vorbis files?
This is the million dollar question.
