I did 3-4x speedup already, it's just not working right (needs some
slight debugging and some code tidying). I'm resonably confident
the next 3-4x speedup will be easy enough to do in a few months.

I mail patches as soon as I like-em enough, and it gets commited
if/when Monty likes it enough.
