[vorbis-dev] embedding a lot of vorbis comments

Hi:

In addition to what others have written, the vorbis comment packet is in
the vorbis header. Doing it the way you suggest means that you'd have to
start a new logical stream every time you wanted to change the volume,
which would waste a lot of space with duplicated codebooks and other header
stuff.

If you had to use comments, you might want to write comments with a time
specification as well as volume setting, all of which would be placed at
the start of the clip. The player could then read these and act on them at
the appropriate time. But like Jack said, this is a hack and using
something like MIDI to do this is by far the preferred way to do this.

Geoff.
