[vorbis-dev] a few questions about the codec

Hello everybody,

I am a student at the University of Liège and I am working on a vorbis
decoder on a dsp for my final thesis. I am doing this with Philips. I
hope this will help to spread the format.

I am currently working on an integer version of the decoder. I would
need some help.

- Could anyone explain me a little the floor1 functions principle? What
theory is it related to ?

- The data *in in mdct_backward function seems to be allways between
-1 and 1. Is that correct ?

- Is the no mapping mode used in codebook ? Is it possible that some
codebooks references in fullbooks are unused ?

- In the fullbooks structure, how can I know which codebook is for floor
, and which is for residue ?

- I saw that that the mdct_backward function could also be run as
integer transform but I read that it was not good enough. Philips has a
good one. Do you think I could use it (if I take my precautions of
course) ?

Thank you very much,

Nicolas
