I don't know why it has to be a OCX - if you design a visual component
like an ActiveX control, you can't change the appearance if you want
to write e.g. a vorbis encoder.
I think COM objects are far more versatile. Not late ago I wrote a
simple COM object for LAME (using ATL), and (packed with upx) it is
only 13 kb. The LAME encoder also is only 83 kb big, and when I build
vorbis+vorbisenc+ogg (beta4) as a DLL, it is 153 kb big, so I don't
think there's anything to worry about file sizes :-)
