I still think that the idea in my original post that started this thread is
the cleanest way - just don't use psycho-acoustics at the very
begging & end of the songs and their end/begging will always match
- no need for encoding into one big file and then slicing it, no need
for smoothing/cross-mixing...

I would like Monty to tell us what he thinks (he's pretty quiet,
probably too busy working hard on beta4 :))
