Looked into this a little. Can't see any problems. Unless Chris can clarify
with additional info on compiler, build quirks, or anything else, I'll
assume this was a transient issue - my MSVC5 build works perfectly.

imagine what might have been wrong, given that winamp worked (and thus the
file is presumably present)
