A quick search (trying to find "unbiased" discourse on open-source licenses
is *hard*):

http://www.opensource.org/licenses/

Being an OpenBSD advocat, I can recommend reading
http://www.openbsd.org/policy.html which discusses why that project chooses
to use the "free" BSD-style license.

And one more:

http://encyclopedia.thefreedictionary.com/BSD%20vs.%20GPL%20license

I just had a "license" thread on another mailing list - so please, no
"religion", please ?

PS To answer your question, the (three erm) BSD license allows you to use
the code in *any* situation as long as you acknowledge the original author.
