Yeah, I know, but do you have a better solution for testing a physical 
implementation of anything?  I suppose you could do it with a CPLD, but I'm 
not sure that you'd gain much.

Anyway, it appears that I have my answer:  No one has tried making a hard 
implementation yet, and may never do so because of the RAM requirements of 
the decoder.  If I get all the way through the Vorbis docs and still think 
it could work, I might take a crack at it, though.
