Ahh... that would have been a good thing to test, huh?.  The files I
tested were pretty old (vendor=Xiphophorus libVorbis I 20010225).  I
tried another track with the 1.0 release, and it works much better. 
Specifically:
real 3m12.511s
user 2m36.270s
sys  0m4.490s

That's more than adequate.
