Ogg Vorbis is comparable to mp3 at about half the bitrate.

Video is more variable, it depends how you like your artifacts. I'd
say the 1.0 theora encoder is generally below xvid in quality for web
video bitrates. The current thusnelda encoder is somewhere between
xvid and x264.
