As an aside, all this detail is why encoding video for the web is 
(still) a $100/hour service. All those beautiful movie trailers at 
quicktime.apple.com work so well because they pay someone to hand 
tune each clip.

If we can automate all this reasonably well, we'll have really lowered 
the barrier.
