Theora is obviously the VP3 project, and while I can find nothing on Xiph about it, the recorder source is offered on vp3.com; but I can find nothing on Xiph or vp3.com about what happened to Truecast5. I contacted On2 about whether TrueCast5 was really going to be open source, and they simply replied "This decision in entirely in Xiph's court."

Interesting. I didn't know anything about it, beyond On2 wanting a PVR application based on
theora. What does it do?

As mentioned, icecast and real (or at least helix) support are planned. We'd really like someone
to do quicktime components too. So it really depends what TrueCast has to offer over the other
competing systems.

Of course! Writing a quicktime component or patching icecast to support theora would both be
extremely helpful in this direction.
