Have you tried a newer version of MPlayer. I´m using MPlayer 1.0pre3-3.2 
and the comandline you´ve given works perfectly here...

No, yuv4mpeg is not MJPEG. It´s uncompressed YUV-data with some 
additional information (framerate, size etc.) AFAIK.
