[theora-dev] Compiling CVS? (automake/autoconf problem with autogen.sh?)

I've eagerly grabbed the current CVS as of a few minutes ago, and attempted to
build and play with theora, but am running into a snag with the autogen.sh
bash-2.05# ./autogen.sh
I am going to run ./configure with no arguments - if you wish
to pass any to it, please specify them on the ./autogen.sh command line.
Generating configuration files for theora, please wait....
aclocal: configure.in: 80: macro `AM_PATH_SDL' not found in library
  libtoolize --automake
  automake --add-missing
configure.in:8: no proper implementation of AM_INIT_AUTOMAKE was found,
configure.in:8: probably because aclocal.m4 is missing...
configure.in:8: You should run aclocal to create this file, then
configure.in:8: run automake again.

In case it helps, I'm running:
automake (GNU automake) 1.6.3
autoconf (GNU Autoconf) 2.53
GNU m4 1.4

I've tried running aclocal directly as suggested by the error, but to no
avail. Any hints what might be causing this? Or, failing that, a pre-built
configure script for theora CVS downloadable from somewhere?
