[Playlist] Getting additional fields added to XSPF?

Here are the questions:
1. Is there any need for new work to implement playlists using DDEX, or
is there already some obvious method to do this?
2. If not, is there an existing project to address that need?
3. What are the use cases for metadata in XSPF?
